How to Make a Caipirinha
With only three easy ingredients, you could be sipping on a deliciously fun Caipirinha in 5 minutes or less.
About This Recipe
A Caipirinha is a Brazilian cocktail that tastes like sunshine and beaches. With citrusy and slightly sweet flavors, it is somewhere between a mojito, a daiquiri and a margarita.
Be warned though. This cocktail is not for the faint of heart because it is as potent as it is tasty. One too many caipirinhas will have you dancing on tables quicker than most cocktails… not that there’s anything wrong with dancing on tables but you get catch my drift.
Don’t worry! If this traditional caipirinha is a little too strong for your liking, just top it off with some soda water.
The Story Behind the Caipirinha
Caipirinhas hold a special little place in my heart. A few years ago I was in Brazil for work. It just so happened the team I was with was made up of all my best work friends; Javi, Emma, Taylor and myself.
My first day in the Brazil office, one of the local office managers grabbed my hand and we started dancing the Samba right there in the middle of the cubicles. As I was twirling and stumbling over myself in my attempt to keep up, another colleague started clapping and insisting the whole team go out for Caipirinhas.
That’s when I knew it was going to be “one of the trips”.
The number of Caipirinhas we consumed during our time in Brazil was too many to count. We worked harder and played harder than any other trip. I honestly don’t know when we found time to sleep.
Best friends + caipirinhas + an expense account = Yikes.
After this work trip Javi, Emma, Taylor and I went from work friends to BEST FRIENDS FOR LIFE! Since then we’ve all gone our separate ways. Taylor got a new job in a different department. Emma and I left the company. Javi moved to Australia.
Despite being on opposite sides of the world (literally) we still talk regularly in a group message. We also make it a point to reunite for a weekend of madness at least once a year which usually starts out with, “Hey guys. Remember that one time in Brazil?”
